Crew Tips: How do I add Team Files on Crew?

by Jennifer Chou, on July 3, 2019

Welcome back to Crew Tips, a weekly series that gives you best practices and simple steps for making the most out of your Crew app, on both Android and iOS. Last week, we went over how to create a new Group on Crew, a useful way to segment conversations and make communication among your team more efficient.

This week, we’re looking at another useful feature on Crew that makes it easy to share important information to the whole team in one fell swoop: how to use Team Files.

In all likelihood, you and your team have probably already been sharing photos and videos with your team on Crew; Team Files makes it easy to upload and share other types of files like PDFs, Word documents, Excel sheets, and gives you a permanent home to store them so that you—and your team—can easily access those files later on.

Crew customers use Team Files to share photos, videos, forms, training materials, policies, important HR forms and information and more.

Team Files is an add-on that can be found under your Admin tab. To activate the feature, Admins must go to the Admin tab and tap “Add” Team Files.

Once Team Files has been activated, anyone in the Organization can upload files to share, unless that capability has been restricted (see Note below). Anyone in the Organization will also be able to view all uploaded files.

To get more information on Team Files, tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner and a menu will pop up, giving you the option to uninstall, contact Support, or access help and a tutorial.

Note: Subscribers to Crew Pro have the option to restrict file uploading to Admins only. They can also restrict the ability to share or open these files outside the Crew app to Admins only. If you have Crew Pro, simply tap the button to toggle this into the 'on' position - the button will show as green vs. white.

Next week, we’ll go over the different ways to use Team Files so stay tuned!
